What is a Preposition?

A preposition is a word that links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in the sentence.

Prepositions indicate the temporal, spatial, or logical relationship of its object to the rest of the sentence.

The object of the preposition is the word or phrase the preposition introduces.

  • The apple is on the table.
  • The apple is under the table.
  • The apple is between the table and John.
